What is HypnoBirthing®?

HypnoBirthing® teaches women how to use self-hypnosis to work with their body to achieve deep relaxation thus being able to work with their birthing muscles (as opposed to against them, due to fear and tension).  It teaches women how to identify and dispel myths and fears about the birth process & birthing and thereby experience a gentler birthing experience.

Benefits

Gentler, more relaxed, easier, and a more conscious birthing experience.

FAQs

When should I start?
As early as possible, after your 1st trimester of pregnancy, for this gives the maximum time to strengthen your practice of deep relaxation and HypnoBirthing® techniques.

What about a weekend course?
Marie Mongan, creator of HypnoBirthing®, strongly opposes weekend HypnoBirthing® courses and advocates for participation in five, 2.5-hour or four, 3-hour classes for maximum support by your Certified HypnoBirthing® Childbirth Educator.  There are special circumstances when a couple is too close to their birthing time to accommodate four or five classes or are from out of town (long distance).  In these events each pregnancy and time remaining until the estimated birthing date is assessed individually in order to devise a schedule best suited to the couple.

Who can be my  birthing companion?
Anyone!  Most couples choose to have their husband, partner, spouse but others choose their doula, sister, mother, best friend, or another.

What if my birthing companion can not make it to all the classes or any of the classes?
Not a problem.  You will simply share all the material from the class with your birthing companion.
